About AIOU

Established in May 1974, Allama Iqbal Open University was created with the main objective of providing educational opportunities to masses who cannot leave their homes and jobs.

It was the second Open University in the world and the first in Asia and Africa, demonstrating remarkable foresight in distance education.

The university offers over 300 programs and 3,500 courses, with a semester system running twice a year. It has become the largest teacher education institution in Pakistan, with an average enrollment of over 200,000 students in each semester.
